Sneak Peak: Two Villains Brewing

Two Villains, One Brewery

There’s nothing better than a cold beer to unwind, unless you get to share it with the brewmasters of the new brewery opening up very soon at 132 Main Street in Nyack.

Coming soon: Nyack’s first brewery at 132 Main Street.

We had the opportunity to meet with both halves of Two Villains Brewing, Jonathan Fernandez and Sean Stampfl, who have known each other, worked and lived together for about 15 years. The journey started with years of home brewing; many of their creations merited awards of various competitions they entered. So much so, they were asked to judge instead of continuing to compete. With their vast knowledge and enthusiasm for the craft, they have ventured off into the many realms of the culture. Their most recent gig together has been as brewers at Brix City Brewing located in Little Ferry, NJ. Two Villains Brewery will be a realization of the years spent mastering their craft (beer).

Two Villains plans to have seven barrels and eight draft lines on tap.

Originally looking for an upstate location, fate brought them and a few others together to Nyack, in the old Bourbon Street location on Main Street. What better place to have a brewery? The duo has plans to offer a plethora of beers, as well as a delicious menu. They will have the classic American pub food with a twist, in addition to a modern take on southern fare. Yes, there will be fries (Sara’s question, of course). They even have glassware pretty much decided – how exciting!

Down to the final stretch, the tentative opening is set to be around October 2019 with small distribution happening before the official opening. Crowlers (32 ounce cans) will be available for purchase with some of their beers getting special releases.

On tap, there will be seven barrels and eight draft lines, starting with a milk stout, cream ale, pale ale, double IPA, and a saison. We’re most excited for the experimental casks, especially talk of a Thai chili saison (now they have to make it). There will be a perfect beer for everyone, no matter how adventurous you are.

The space will have a pop-art comic book vibe. Two Villains will also have multiple TVs for sports and other televised events to create a comfortable, welcoming, and fun space for the community of Nyack and its visitors. As excited as they are to make Two Villains a welcoming place in Nyack, Jonathan and Sean are just as excited and looking forward to becoming a part of the Nyack community as well.

“We’re excited to become a part of an ever increasing artisan community that is building in Nyack. It’s an honor to be the first brewery in such a progressive and independent town, and we plan to give back however we can, one beer at a time!”  said Jonathan speaking on behalf of Two Villains Brewing.

Because of the menu, no dogs are able to enter, unfortunate for those with fur babies. But they are family-friendly for sure: it seems like the perfect spot to finish up a nice Nyack visit with a cold one (or few) and some good eats. Come October, you’ll know where to find us.

When you work at three separate jobs over the course of six years with someone, you get to know them pretty well. Now add beer into the mix. We’re just two Rockland ladies who enjoy drinking beer on the weekends–and weekdays. Our day jobs are a little different: Jonna has a position in marketing & social media and Sara is a tattoo artist.
