A Few of Our Favorite Things With Maria Luisa Boutique

As the weather warms up and spring blossoms in the Rivertowns, we caught up with Maria Luisa Boutique to find out what we should be wearing. Here, proprietor Maria Luisa Whittingham and manager Lindsay Owen share some of their favorite pieces this season.

 The Alexis Mini Dress

“Made by fair trade artisans in India in our favorite golden hue of the season, this 100 percent rich cotton slub mini dress packs a punch with dainty embroidered details on the neckline and a removable tie, giving you the option to gather at the waist or have a relaxed fit.”

The Boho Cotton Scarf

“A customer and staff favorite for all seasons, this buttery soft, delicately woven cotton and viscose scarf/shawl is hand-dyed in every color of the rainbow by a fair-trade weaving collective in Thailand. With so many ways to wear it and endless color options, it is our go-to wardrobe essential.”

The Paperbead Clutch

“Ethically made in Uganda from recycled paper and finished with an organic varnish that gives a “beaded” effect, these unique clutches are a true work of art that make a difference for the women artisans who create them. The perfect size for travel, we take them anywhere and everywhere!”

The Boho Chunk Small Hoop Earrings

“A modern statement earring with a retro twist, these chunky mango-wood C hoops are like an instant dose of sunshine. Our favorite for all occasions to dress up or down, each earring is hand carved, dyed, and painted by fair-trade Filipino artisans and are truly one of a kind.”

The Duyba Platform Sandal

“Made by talented artisans in Menoca, Spain, for over 40 years, these statement platform sandals are a treasure to cherish season after season. A comfortable, colorful blend of sporty and sophisticated, each pair takes approximately two hours to produce and is passed through many skilled hands at each step of the process, from cutting and sewing to assembly and finishing. A true “WOW” shoe!”

The MZ Made Wildheart Bucket Tote

“Hand dyed and woven of 100 percent premium wool in Oaxaca, Mexico, this tote has plenty of room for all our essentials for the entire day. The desert pattern features a traditional Zapotec diamond and lightning design in shades of Persian orange, deep slate blue, and rust, with hints of light turquoise — our favorite spring/summer palette.”
